This dreamy family photo session in the Grand Tetons was absolute perfection! I was thrilled to be able to make this beautiful family's hopes and dreams come true - to have family portraits with the Grand Tetons! Such an epic photo location! Their daughter-in-law reached out to me before their summer vacation to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and set up a full family session in Grand Teton National Park. They wanted to include their whole extended family, which always makes my heart happy! It's a rare gift to have the whole family together, let alone on vacation together! A photo session is such a wise investment. And something that will give so much meaning to a family trip.
We met on the outskirts of String Lake, in a field with a stunning view of the Grand. The summer was warm, but nice enough they could wear dress shirts and slacks and not be uncomfortably hot! They chose a classy color scheme of blue and white for their session, which worked beautifully with the greens of the foliage, and blues of the majestic mountains.
At first they were concerned about how their little 4 year old would handle the photo session. But I assured them we would take plenty of time to play and let him explore between the "look at the camera and smile" shots. I've been a family photographer for 9 years, not to mention a mother for 16! I love little kids! They're a blast to photograph. My secret is to give them space as they warm up to me, talk to them at their level, create playtime with family members, let them know they don't have to look at me a smile all the time - they can play and be themselves! And of course, we always have treats at the end! I love when I get to the end of a session and I get a big high-five from the kids, or sometimes even hugs! Then I know I've done my job! This little one was no exception. He's the same age as my son so I was able to connect with him and by the end we were buddies! Check out their fun, playful, photo session in the epic Grand Tetons!
